A good sequel connects the reader to the preceding stories. That’s what this book does admirable. We find the main character returning from his first adventure. The way the author has written this tale it makes the reader want to read the first book if they haven’t already.
Because I haven’t read the first book yet, I can assure you that this issue is completely enjoyable as a stand-alone. This time the hero is joined by a friend and they learn real purpose of enchanted pet shop.
Qualities such as kindness, commitment, and environmental consciousness is conveyed through out the tale. It also points youngsters in the direction of social service and actively participating in the improvement of the planet.

I love the whimsical tone of this book and the enchanted pet store. This pet store is unlike any other we have seen, and brings to light the topic of endangered species. Robinson incorporates facts and educates children on a very real world problem. The illustrations are well done and I'm looking forward to reading more books in this series.
